Assalamualaikum :)

First of all, I really want to express my gratitude towards Allah because He gave me such a blessing to me to be born as a Muslim. Alhamdulillah Alhamdulillah Alhamdulillah.

The two big pleasures that He gave towards us as a Muslim are two, Islam and Imaan. Not everyone who is Muslims but never feels good about that, they even do not practice the way Islam taught us. There is also a group of Muslim that really cooperate with their own self to give a full commitment to Allah by obeying His rules and avoiding His warnings.

Sometimes I wonder myself, " How could be my life is without Islam?"

I think I can't accept my life without Islam. Worshipping other gods without knowing that this world just a temporary life. Nauzubillahiminzalikh.

Here I am, trying to give you several reasons and what I really think Islam does to me in coping with life:

1) Islam teaches us to take care of our health and does not put yourself in danger. The Prophet (s.a.w) also encouraged his followers to pray for good health.

In one tradition he said, ‘Ask Allah for forgiveness and health.’ (An Nasai).

In another hadith, he (s.a.w) is reported to have said, ‘No supplication is more pleasing to Allah than a request for good health.’ (Tirmidhi).

Another tradition narrates that a Bedouin once asked the Prophet (s.a.w), saying, ‘O Prophet of Allah (s.a.w), what supplication shall I make to Allah after I have finished doing the Salah? The Prophet (s.a.w) said, ‘Ask for good health’.
About prevent yourself from danger also has been mentioned in al-Quran in Surah Al Baqarah, verse 2:

وَأَنفِقُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَلَا تُلْقُوا بِأَيْدِيكُمْ إِلَى التَّهْلُكَةِ ۛ وَأَحْسِنُوا ۛ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُحْسِنِينَ - 2:195
And spend in the way of Allah and do not throw [yourselves] with your [own] hands into destruction [by refraining]. And do good; indeed, Allah loves the doers of good.
These hadith and verse from the al-Quran are clearly reminding me about my health and safety are really important in this life. There are many cases nowadays about the teenagers especially throwing themselves into destruction, for examples they drank 'air ketum' which make them drowsy and drunk. Not only that, they never feel ashamed of doing sex at that early age like 13 or 14 years old even worse primary students also had already admitted it. This lifestyle could lead to a serious disease like HIV, Sex Transmitting Disease (STD) and so on.

As I can observe, the lifestyle that does not fit in what already mentioned in our two important guidelines which are al-Quran and hadith makes them distant from His blessings. They do not feel the things they did could harm them in the future. They lack the knowledge about how worse their life in hereafter could be.

For me, it is essential for me that I need to take care of my health and do not do things that disadvantage myself. Eat properly and only healthy food. Avoid eating too much because it is not good for your body. It will make your body feel tired easily. In the end, you will be lazy to do many things. The important one is to perform prayer on time. At night, I need to have enough rest because I knew in the morning I need to wake up early to perform Subuh prayer. I constantly worried about what if I do not wake up early in the morning to perform the prayer. I believe if I missed the time to pray Subuh, my life on that day, maybe I could not feel at ease. Everything will go wrong not as usual.

A healthy body helps us to do many things easily. We can go to the class, seek knowledge; then we also can laughing and playing jokes with our friends, focus on the class and many things. All of these are essential as we live with people surrounds us. We need to take care of our relationship with them. It is also one of ibadah that we could do and it is simple. If you constantly letting your body exposed to harm, and you do not doing anything to preserve good health, it is haraam in Islam because you are not showing the appreciation and value for the great favour Allah has given to you.

2) Islam teaches me that Allah always is there for His servants and the closest to us. No matter what happened and in whatever condition we are in. This has been proven in the Quran:

وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنسَانَ وَنَعْلَمُ مَا تُوَسْوِسُ بِهِ نَفْسُهُ ۖ وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ حَبْلِ الْوَرِيدِ - 50:16
And We have already created man and know what his soul whispers to him, and We are closer to him than [his] jugular vein

There are actually four jugular veins, one internal and one external, on both right and left sides of the neck. These veins carry deoxygenated blood from the brain towards the heart. Since they are quite large and located in the neck, jugular veins are vulnerable to attack: severing them can cause death due to rapid loss of blood.

First, the Quran may be implying that one should trust in God’s absolute power; even at the most vulnerable point in your body, God is there to protect you. The Quran mentioned critical veins of the head, rather than those of other organs that are just as important. Indeed, severing other large veins in the thigh, heart, or liver, for instance, would also cause death. Many Muslim traditions hold that humans are inherently special because of our intellect and ability to use reason. Indeed, science shows that our highly developed brains are what distinguish us from other animals. Perhaps the Quran is suggesting that faith is closely intertwined with rational thought.

The explanation of the reality of science in the Quran really amazed me. Allah is the nearest to us. Whatever you are doing, Allah sees us. What I can imply this verse to my daily life is I need to aware of my doings. Even a simple act could justify my life in the Hereafter. Studying, playing, talking, sleeping and others, all these I need to do just for Allah. I am a pharmacy student so I constantly remind myself, "Mira what are you trying to understand, all these knowledge are from Him, ask Him to ease you to understand. Once you could understand them, try to apply in your life in the future so that you can be a beneficial Muslim to the ummah". I also ask that this knowledge could make me a better servant and closer to Allah. The more I know, the more I know that I don't know.

Me myself never ever escape on doing sins. Whether I realized or not, I had done it. Maybe in my speech to the people or my acts that could hurt other feelings. Even simpler, I did not take care of my time prayer on time. I think I should do my assignments first, or doing my things done first so that I could feel ease after that. I forgot that the time supplied to my life is from Him. I expected that it will turn worse if I couldn't finish my works because I tend to forget easily, but also I greatly forgot that Allah is there to be the source of strength and the barakah of the time given.

These are things that I could think about being a grateful Muslim. I am very blessed to be a Muslim because every little thing in our life has been guided properly and ethically.
